NAF Academies Accepted to International Baccalaureate Career-Related Certificate Program 2 NAF academies have been accepted to the candidacy phase of the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Certificate Program (IBCC). These academies will be strengthening their college connections with the IBCC beginning in the 2012/2013 school year. If your school has an IB program and is interested in the IBCC, complete the Expression of Interest form. The deadline to apply for 2013/2014 implementation is April 1, 2012. Academy Students Win Innovation Awards Congratulations to Pathways to Technology Magnet School in Windsor, Connecticut, for winning the “Innovative Beverage” category, and to Miami Edison Senior High School’s Academy of Finance for winning the “New Franchise” and “College and Career Readiness Product or Services” categories in the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s World Series of Innovation. Miami Graduation Rates Soar There are 44 NAF academies located in Miami and several are in schools which have seen dramatic increases in graduation rates according to a recent article in the Miami Herald. School administrators credit the higher graduation rates to strong school leadership, top teachers, and a district-wide plan to meet high school standards, which had recently changed.
