College and Career Readiness Finds Champions

The movement for education reform that focuses on college and career readiness is gaining ground in the eyes of policymakers, and the National Academy Foundation is continuing to be recognized as a leader in the career academy movement.

ACADEMIES IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Congratulations to the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism at High School for Hospitality and Business Management in New York City who placed 3rd in the  Junior Achievement's Business Plan Competition out of 150 teams. Their team, MyShopper Pro received a trophy for their school and $1,000 cash prize for each team member. MyShopper Pro was coached by corporate volunteers from PricewaterhouseCoopers.


NAF graduate Rhonda Roach has received a full scholarship to the University of Maryland. She also was named a Gates Millennium Scholar. Roach graduated from the Academy of Finance at Fairmont Heights High School this year and credits her academy experience with helping her prepare to one day start her own business.
